*Christmas Carol Party – December 2025* BETHEL LAND SCHOOL AMOYO, KWARA STATE NIGERIA Last December, our school hall was transformed into a warm, festive space for the annual Christmas Carol Party. The event brought together students, teachers, and a few parents for an evening of music, reflection, and community. *1. Setting & Atmosphere* The hall was decorated with fairy lights, paper snowflakes, and a tall Christmas tree at the front. Red and green ribbons lined the stage, and student art with nativity scenes was displayed along the walls. The air smelled of hot chocolate and baked snacks from the refreshment table. *2. The Performances* The program opened with the school choir singing _Silent Night_ and _Hark! The Herald Angels Sing_. Different classes took turns performing: - The junior classes did a simple, cheerful rendition of _Jingle Bells_ with hand actions. - The senior students performed a medley of _O Holy Night_ and _Joy to the World_, with a few students on guitar and keyboard. - A short nativity skit was acted out by primary students between carols, which got the biggest round of applause. Between songs, a teacher read the Christmas story from Luke 2, keeping the focus on the meaning of the season. *3. Visit from Father Christmas* The highlight of the evening came right after the carols. The hall lights dimmed, jingle bells rang from the back, and *Father Christmas, also known as Santa*, walked in with his red suit, white beard, and a huge sack over his shoulder. The whole hall erupted in cheers as he greeted everyone with a booming “Ho ho! Merry Christmas!” He spent time calling out students by name and handing out gifts - wrapped toys, storybooks, water bottles, and sweets for the younger ones, and stationery sets and small gift vouchers for the older students. Even some teachers got small presents, which made the room laugh. The moment turned into photo time, with students lining up with Santa by the Christmas tree, holding their gifts and smiling. *4. Participation & Vibe* What made it special was how involved everyone was. After Santa’s visit, everyone joined in the final group carol, _We Wish You a Merry Christmas_. Teachers and students sang together, clapping and swaying, with kids showing off their gifts to each other. After the last song, everyone gathered for snacks - small chops, soft drinks, and Christmas cake - and took more photos by the tree. *5. The Takeaway* Beyond the singing and gifts, the party felt like a pause before the holiday break.
